In early May, the Table & Vine team took a road trip with our friends at Ruby Wines up to Shoreham, VT. We were invited to the Whistlepig Farmhouse in the beautiful Vermont countryside. We got to learn about the various Whistlepig products and the craft behind them. We even got to sample some of their wares that are not currently available in MA! (Lookout for Whistlepig’s Piggy Back coming in 2020!!!)
After experiencing a tour of the facility and their generous hospitality we sat down to make a barrel selection. After mulling over 4 different barrel specimens that we drew from the barrels ourselves, we reached a consensus on Table & Vine’s 2019 barrel of Whistlepig! This particular expression is a 10 year old single barrel rye that is 115.7 proof. The inherent spiciness of the rye is wonderfully balanced out with a contrasting pleasant sweetness from nose to finish. Unlike the dryness of most rye, the natural oils in this particular expression give it a superb slippery mouth fee. This beautiful libation will coat your pallet and the finish will linger.
This barrel will yield approximately 240 bottles.
