Fess Parker The Big Easy 2016- $24.99
“The 2016 is simply outrageously delicious.”
“Don’t age it, drink it.”
People often ask why we taste as much as we do. When I explain that a very small percentage of wines we taste actually make it into the store it seems futile, but we push ourselves to keep an open mind and are always trying to find the next big thing. And every so often it is easy…BIG EASY!! One taste and I knew- here it is, the next big thing! The wine is delicious, the price is very fair, and check out those scores!!
The Fess Parker Winery has made quite a few different wines over the years that we have loved, their Chardonnay has been staple of our selection for many years now. I am thrilled to welcome The Big Easy to our offerings, the wine has consistently played in the 88-91 point range, and been a solid Rhone style blend from California, but the 2016 is something special, leaping to a higher quality level than ever before. I was pumped about this wine. And we could buy a decent amount!
This is a Rhone blend with California roots- 57% Syrah, 31% Petite Sirah and 12% Grenache, aged 16 months in oak barrels. The wine is ripe and rich with bold dark fruit like blackberry and plum with anise and cinnamon spices, and no holes, solid and intense! This is a powerful wine that is ready to be enjoyed any time!
Buy this now, at this price with this quality we will sell this wine very quickly!
“The 2016 The Big Easy is fabulous. Rich, powerful and flamboyant to its core the Big Easy hits the palate with tremendous fruit intensity. Super-ripe red cherry, raspberry jam, white chocolate, vanillin and new American oak shape this opulent Syrah/Petite Sirah/ Grenache blend. Winemaker Blair Fox has dialed in a style that captures all the exuberance of past editions, but with more nuance than the Big Easy has ever shown. And I say that as someone who has never loved this wine. The 2016 is simply outrageously delicious. 95 points.” Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
“…It’s always an uber-ripe, pleasure-bent effort and the 2016 is no exception, although it has a beautiful weightlessness and elegance about it as well. Blackcurrants, camphor, scorched earth, licorice, and spice notes all emerge from this medirm to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, delicious red that packs ample fruit and texture. Don’t age it, drink it. 92 points.” ~ Jeb Dunnuck
