Apple Cider Moscow Mule

For Simple Syrup:
1 cup Big Y sugar
1 cup water
8 whole allspice berries, slightly crushed
8 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
2 cardamom pods, crushed
1½ Tbsp. dried orange peel

For Drink:
4 oz. apple cider
6 oz. ginger beer
2 oz. vodka
1 oz. spiced simple syrup
½ Tbsp. fresh orange juice
ice
apple and orange slices

In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine sugar, water and spices; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 10 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let steep for 1 hour. Strain into a jar with a tight-fitting lid and let cool. Let chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour or until cold. Will keep in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

In a 20-oz. copper mug, combine apple cider, beer, vodka, simple syrup and orange juice; stir well. Top with ice and garish with apple and oranges slices.
