Maker's Mark Bourbon Balls

Love is in the Air!
Valentine’s Day will be here soon, and we think its the perfect time to make a batch of Pecan topped Maker’s Mark Bourbon Balls.

This is not a one day project, as you need to make the pecans.
So, first I soaked some pecans in Maker’s Mark!

It’s really simple, simply place whole pecans in a mason jar – add Maker’s Mark to cover (1 inch over pecans). Approx. 1-1/2 cups.
Cover tightly with lid and let stand 7–10 days for pecans to absorb bourbon flavor.
You could do less days, but I think they are best if you let them soak for the full time period.
Drain bourbon-soaked pecans thoroughly and set aside. Discard the whisky.

Then, I got ready to make Maker’s Mark Bourbon Balls!

Ingredients:

2 cups vanilla wafers
2 tablespoons unsweet cocoa powder
3/4 cup bourbon – Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky
1 teaspoon vanilla
14oz bag of shredded coconut (1/2 in mix and save 1/2 to roll the balls in)
14oz can of sweetened condensed milk.

I mixed all the ingredients together and then formed the balls with my hands.
Beware, this step is messy!
Next, roll the balls into the additional coconut.

Serve at room temperature.
Store in refrigerator covered for up to 2 weeks.

I forgot to take a picture, but I topped them with a drunken pecan and wow, they were perfection!
