Bourbon Apple Betty

2 1/2 cups Breadcrumbs
1/2 cup [1 stick] Butter, melted
2 lbs Tart Green Apples, peeled, cored and sliced
3/4 cup Packed Brown Sugar
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 cup Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon (Grab a bottle here!)
Optional Toppings: Vanilla Ice Cream or Whipping Cream

Preheat oven to 375°. Butter a deep 2 quart casserole or baking dish. Toss breadcrumbs with butter in medium bowl. Sprinkle 1/3 of the crumbs over bottom of the casserole dish. Toss apples with brown sugar and cinnamon in large bowl. Spread half of the apples over crumbs in casserole. Top with half of the remaining crumbs, then apples and finally the bread crumbs. Pour the Knob Creek Bourbon over the top.

Cover casserole with lid or foil and bake 25 minutes. Uncover and continue baking until apples are tender and crust is crisp, about 45 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature with ice cream or whipping cream.

For a delicious treat during dessert, we recommend St. Michael Riseling Spatlese 2015 from our Vineyard Selections collection. You can grab a bottle of this delicious wine right here and request curbside pickup in our West Springfield.
